South Frontenac Association of Responsible STR Hosts

We are a grassroots group of responsible short-term rental hosts in South Frontenac Township that operate with our community in mind. We are neighbours first, and hosts second.

We are in favour of short-term rental regulation that protects citizens’ rights to enjoy their properties while also providing a framework for the safe and responsible operation of short-term rental properties in South Frontenac and the economic benefits that come with them.

For example, a licensing system and enforcement paid by hosts would allow the township to police and prevent irresponsible hosts at no cost to residents, while also supporting tourism and local jobs created by STR operators.

Thoughtful regulation can have the same outcome as a ban or zoning changes, without the negative impact on the South Frontenac economy. This is especially critical given the currently challenging economic conditions in Canada. We believe working together to craft regulation that supports local tourism while protecting all property owners is the common sense solution.

Our goal is to work with the township and the community on STR legislation as it unfolds.
